This is our FORD RANGER RAPTOR UPGRADE dedicated blog post providing the range of available upgrades for LED Light conversions.
FORD RANGER RAPTOR / XLT & WILDTRAK PX3 MK3 HEADLIGHT CONVERSION
The new Ranger Raptor comes fitted with factory HID Low beam but remains the same dull, yellow halogen high beam. The high beam upgrade to LED will not only see a huge increase in light volume and lux but will also more closely match the colour temperature of the factory equipped HID low beam.
RANGER RAPTOR HIGH BEAM LED UPGRADE
Upgrading the high beam on the Raptor is a straight forward process, the only difficulty you will encounter is negotiating your way through a tight engine bay. As you can see from the photos below the factory halogen high beam achieved a peak intensity of 4,279 Lux. Once swapped to our Copper Head LED upgrade we were able to achieve a massive gain of 7,702 Lux which is an 80% increase in peak intensity. FORD RANGER RAPTOR UPGRADE GUIDE
Unfortunately, due to the tight space in the engine bay, it does make it quite hard to capture exactly how to install your LED kit but essentially once the dust cap is removed, a quick twist to remove the original bulb and swap in the LED globe. When locked in, connect the driver to the LED globe and then back to the vehicles power connection. Lastly, tuck the driver module inside the back of the headlight housing and re-attach the dust cap. Don’t forget we also have a LED Copper Head Installation Video

LED MAP/DOME LIGHT UPGRADE
The front Map/Dome Light is an easy upgrade that will require the removal of the lens cover that houses the globe fitting. Be mindful that this lens cover can be very fragile on the clips that secure it into place. The dome light in the center in one of our Festoon globes and the 2 outer side map lights are a 28mm globe.
LED REAR DOME LIGHT UPGRADE
The rear dome light is a simple 12SMD globe. Installation requires the unit to be un-clipped to reveal the twist lock socket in the center of the unit.
LED VANITY LIGHT
The vanity light is probably the most complex of conversions to upgrade throughout the car. Another unit that needs a little more care when removing the unit itself as far as the clips surrounding the border that can be fragile and once removed, there are the 2 wires (+ & -) that can be detached to make everything a little more accessible. Once the unit is completely detached from the sun visor, using a small flat head screwdriver, push in the 2 white tabs on the back side to remove the lens cover on the vanity light itself. All that’s left now is swapping the bulb to the Festoon, re-assemble the unit, connect to power and push back into position.

LED PUDDLE LIGHT
The LED Puddle Light upgrade for the Ranger Raptor follows the exact same process as the Wildtrak and XLT models. Slip a flat head screwdriver into the tabs situated each side of the light to remove the unit. Unplug both the positive and negative wires to the factory light. Our puddle light upgrade uses the same method for installation, we took the extra precaution of applying electrical tape around the positive wire to prevent the cables crossing when fitted back inside the mirror.
LED LICENSE PLATE
The number plate light is easily removed again, with a flat head screwdriver to wedge the unit free and then its a simple bulb holder at the back with a twist to unlock. This will use an 8SMD over a 12SMD as the larger globe can sometimes cause glare when using the reverse camera so going the smaller option avoids this issue whilst still providing the modern white light with a greater output of light.
LED BRAKE / TAIL LIGHT + REVERSE
For the rear light conversions, the easiest way is to remove the light from the tub. There are a handful of bolts run up the inside of the tailgate you will need to unscrew and with a little bit of force, pull the light out from the body. The globes are both with a Dual Filament replacing the Tail / Brake and the Single Filament replacing the Reverse.
FORD RANGER/EVEREST PIGGYBACK ADAPTOR
Our new piggyback adaptor specific for the Ford Ranger and Everest PXII/PXIII will remove any hassle from the installation of any of our driving light harness kits. Simply install as you would any other piggyback but instead of tailing off the back of the high beam globe, you will go to the main power plug that comes out the back of the headlight unit.
Some may find access to this plug may be a tight squeeze so there are a few minor parts that can be removed but not a necessity to complete the install.
Removing the radiator trim cover and the bracket shown in the second photo above will open up a lot more room to work around the area required to install the piggyback. Again not a necessity but if you get stuck, this will help.
Below is an overlayed diagram to help visualize the plug installation position.
1. Connection to the vehicles main power supply for the headlight unit.
2. Plugs directly into the back of the headlight unit.
3. Connects to the T-Connector on the STEDI Harnesses.
This applies to both the Ford Ranger and Everest in the PX2/PX3 models.FORD RANGER RAPTOR UPGRADE GUIDE
